CRAYOLA!

Mar. 15th, 2008 10:49 pm
46. Went to the Crayola Factory.

After wanting to go for the about the past 7 years we finally made it there. We, meaning Mark, my Dad, Jeanette, Mackenzie, and me. Stopped for breakfast first (I got 1 blueberry, 1 coconut, and 1 choc chip pancake which was a fantastic combo of pancakes - coconut was my favorite).

We go there and saw the crayon and marker making demo. Found out that the holes in the top of the marker are there in case a kid swallows a cap. That way they can still breathe while they're choking and i thought that was really cool cause i never knew that.

We got free crayons and free markers. We played on toys, we took pictures, rolled our own crayons, wrote on walls with special glass markers, colored pictures, used those paper magic markers that only write on special paper, did crayon rubbings, made wax paintings, paper bag puppets, floated boats down rivers, rowed fake boats (really only i did this), and modeled stuff out of clay. honestly, it was a blast and less than $10 for all of that enjoyment. Although I did find out that the "blue gray" crayon was retired a few years ago and that was always one of my favorite colors growing up.

i made a turtle with a top hat out of clay. i ran out and couldn't make a monocle and cane like i wanted to. jeanette made some small octopus thing, a bear, and tried to make a small turtle but it looked like a cat for some reason. Mark originally was going to make a penis but then my dad started to make one so i guess he didn't want to compete and instead made a boob while my dad made a penis which he insists is a monk.
