Oct. 2nd, 2011 02:06 pmWe went to my parents all last week. We just came home last night. It was my last week of maternity leave. My grandparents were still at my parents so we figured it'd be good to see them - Meryl & Starr also came out.
Harrison's bris was on Monday. Mark and I are his grandparents even though Melissa didnt ask us to be until like 3 minutes before the ceremony. It would've been nice to know so I could've gotten him a small keepsake or something.
Tuesday we went to Philly saw all the independence plaza stuff - liberty bell, declaration of independence, terminal market. Wednesday we went to the zoo. As I'm sure you can imagine, Ziva loved everything haha. She was in her stroller for the first time without her carseat and just loved looking around at everybody and everything.
We got back to my parent's house on Wednesday evening for Rosh Hashana. We ended up holding dinner for Starr.. he had fallen asleep at the airport and slept thru his flight. He finally arrived around 8:30ish. Ya know, Ziva's bedtime. So, now we're starting dinner at 8:30 - with a 3 month old, a 10 day old, and a 3.5 yr old. It was just freaking lovely as you can guess. At 10, Ziva had been woken up about 4 seperate times and was just trying to burrow (spelling?) into my arms so she could get some quiet and go to sleep. We left at that point and went back to our rooms- we really didn't need dessert.
Thursday we started dinner at 7 so that was better. Ziva and Harrison passed out in one of the dining rooms while Rebecca and Mackenzie entertained each other. Meryl (who is 52 yrs old and due in December) couldn't handle that Rebecca (3.5 yrs old) and Mackenzie (who is 4) were talking while Starr was trying to say a prayer. They are freaking 4 years old - they don't understand. I think just the fact that they werent running around or screaming should be celebrated.
Ziva was a giant cranky girl the whole week. We think she started teething.. oh joy. Friday morning they all left and the bad aura was lifted. Ziva literally rolled off of me and fell asleep on the couch and took the best nap that she had taken all week long. While I went to the store with my dad, Mark and my mom watched Ziva. She screamed her little head off the entire time until Mark got some baby ambesol or something to put on her gums. I was sad that I have to go back to work tomorrow and leave her with strangers while she's in pain. Mark is all "at least you won't have to deal with a cranky baby" We see things very differently.
Saturday was more hanging out. We went out to lunch with Jeanette and Mackenzie, stopped by to see Melissa, Paul, Rebecca, and Harrison (and say goodbye) and then headed home. Ziva and I promptly fell asleep for the 2.5 hour car ride home.
Ziva loves talking and squealing. She's getting closer to giggling but still prefers to shriek or cough. She will randomly yell now when she's mad - just one loud yell. She loves her toy keys and tends to stick them too far into her mouth and slightly gag - but that doesn't stop her. She rolled over from her back onto her tummy twice this week. I'm not counting it because I dont want to think about my kid getting older. She likes to grab things and, if possible, either wear them as a bracelet (teething rings, her keys, etc.) or throw them over her face (bibs, clothing, burp cloths, my hair)
Oh, and she smiles when you kiss her which is incredibly sweet.
I've also been trying to just avoid thinking about going back to work tomorrow. I'm not at all prepared. I know Ziva won't really mind and, hopefully, she'll be in good hands. I just don't want to be the one to hand her over.. ever. Tomorrow is going to suck.
