Feb. 3rd, 2008 01:35 pm49. Put the Cards away.
We've had this really nice box to put all our wedding cards in since we were engaged. Instead of putting them in there, we've just been keeping them in this small table by our front door along with every other card we've gotten since then. I finally sorted through all of them, separated Engagement and Wedding cards inside the box and emptied out the rest of the drawer and then put all other cards back in there until I have a place for them.
While going through this I found a few Fortunoff gift card boxes and there were still cards in them! I read the back of the card and saw that they expired 2 years after the purchase date and got really upset at this point. They were engagement gifts so they had to have been bought around Nov/Dec 2004. I just felt really bad that our friends went and spent their hard earned money and we totally forgot about them and never even used them. Once I found the third gift card, Mark was like hold up let me look online and see if any of the money is still left on it, it showed the amount that they all originally had on them ($115 in total) and that we could still use them!
So I went ahead and ordered some stuff before I forgot again. We're getting a new Popcorn Popper thingie and Slicer/Shredder attachments for the Kitchenaid. Thank you Dave!! We'll think of you whenever we make popcorn from now on. And thanks to Erik and his mom and some unnamed person (the third one was in a plain envelope), we'll think of you guys whenever we shred cheese.
Moral of the story: Always buy Fortunoff gift cards because they don't really expire apparently.
I also tried calling Bally's to see what's going on with our memberships since we haven't received a bill in a year and a half but of course they're closed on the weekends.
