mom and nanny
Apr. 5th, 2010 07:43 pmSo my mom finally went to the hospital. She's been sick the past few days (like Mark and me) but with bathroom issues as well. Yesterday added in double vision. She didn't want to go to the hospital of course. But everyone was more worried today cause she still has double vision. And that's a very bad symptom.
She called my uncle Rob. He recommended going to a neurologist, the ER, or a REALLY good optometrist. She opted for the hospital. They rushed her in thinking everything was a stroke and that she was currently having one because she has a few other symptoms. She also has a ton (if not all) of the risk factors for stroke.
They pretty much ruled out a stroke. The Dr did say that although it probably wasn't one this time, she's pretty much a ticking time bomb for a stroke. They did an MRI, did a catscan, did an ultrasound of her carotid artery and all that jazz.
She's staying over night at the hospital and hopefully they'll know what's going on soon. It might just be double vision cause by diabetes (which is one thing uncle rob suggested). Sometimes that cures itself in days (or weeks or months) and sometimes it stays forever. I don't remember what it's called but it's basically the nerves in your eyes wearing out.
In the middle of all this my Nanny called and I almost told her everything that was going on but then I realized how bad of an idea that would be. She just keeps going for test after test and appt after appt. She keeps just getting weird test results back and they have no idea what's wrong with her. She (nanny) is still convinced it's stomach cancer and she's dying.
