in the past 24 hours we've broken 2 glasses. well the cats knocked one over and it broke EVERYWHERE in the living room. and then this morning the fridge door closed on mark and his glass went flying and subsequently broke. we're gonna have to buy new glasses soon cause we always break them in spurts.

our phone was finally switched over to Vonage today. thats so exciting. it actually worked. i'm making a cake to commemorate the switch. really i just want to bake a cake and this is a good excuse. i've never baked a cake from scratch but for some reason i feel like i need to today. mark is buying cake flour as i type. i shoulda told him to get eggs. eh i'll figure it out without too many eggs.

john and jerilyns wedding was on saturday. it was quite fun. i've come to realize that apparently "can't help falling in love" is THE wedding song. i've never been to a wedding where it wasn't played. well unless you count jeanettes. and we know i dont count jeanettes.

that morning our closet bar fell down (again). i was glad i had gotten my dress out earlier. actually the 2 dresses i was deciding between. then we went to our cars to go (and pick up Jenn) and we were plowed in. majorly. from our front door to the parking lot was a sheet of ice (good thing i was wearing my boots) and then the cars woulnd't come out at all. i got mine halfway out and then it got stuck and i was just gonna leave it in the middle of the parking lot but mark (being the manly man) pushed me back in. Luckily, Jenn lives about 3 minutes away so she came and picked us up instead.

Louie got to see Gerge and he was very excited. he's back to moping (and sleeping on the futon) now that gerge is gone. We haven't had the heart to close the futon yet cause whenever mark or i go in he's sprawled across the whole thing. who knew a cat could sprawl so much.

i feel like there might have been something important i had to say. but i took too long to write so i don't fully remember it now.

we need to clean the house and finish unpacking the last few boxes.

i booked our trip. flying to orange spending the weekend with Adam and Jenna, driving to Vegas and spending the week there, and then driving to San Diego spending the weekend and then flying home on monday. We decided on Ka and Love. Zumanity got bad reviews - apparently theres no acrobatics just sex. i'd rather sex and acrobatics. So now we just have to wait and see if Adam's mom can get us tickets and if not i'll just buy them online.

I need to figure out what to get Mark for his birthday. i have 2 ideas but i dont know if i like any of them. i also think i need to end this here cause its getting really really long.

cupcaking

so i asked mark to take a picture of my cupcake catastrophe.
mark: why
ali: so the next time i get this grand idea i wont do it
mark: no, they weren't that bad.

notice his key word there: that. they weren't good. but they weren't THAT bad.. i mean its a cupcake, can it ever REALLY be bad? i really just wanted a picture so that the next time i get this stupid ass idea to bake cupcakes from scratch i can be shown the picture of the chunks of broken cakes splattered with icing and know that i should just buy a box of mix.

there were like 7 or 8 cupcakes that kinda sorta broke when i took them outta the tins so i broke em apart more put them on a plate and dolloped icing around. it's actually rather tasty.

i may make cupcakes that wont stand and fall apart on touch but i will say i make pretty good buttercream icing. i'm not saying its hard to make icing, i'm just saying that was the one thing i did a pretty decent job on.

they were pretty doomed from the get go. i didn't have any butter that wasn't frozen so i improvised and it was downhill from there. i think i also busted my stick blender.

oh well, they still taste good.
